Race rules

General rules

  1. The regatta is open to rowing clubs from Croatia and abroad.
  2. Mixed crews from different clubs are allowed. All participating rowers from Croatia must have a valid HVS identification card, whilst patricipans from abroad must have a valid Rowing identification card, passport or similar document
  3. The regatta course is along the southern shore of the Sava river. The length of the course is 3600 meters upstream. The attachment shows the rowing course with direction markings.
  4. Masters compete within categories as specified by the FISA.
  5. For the 5 winning crews in last year's Capital Cup in each category, starting numbers are given according to their finishing order. 
  6. For all other crews, including those competing for the first time, there will be a draw for starting numbers.
  7. All rowers in the boat representing a club or rowing assossiation must wear their corresponding club or assossiation dresses.  All rowers in the boat with a combined crew must have the same dresses. 
  8. All time measurements and race tracking will be done by licenced rowing judges.
  9. All crews must pick up their starting numbers and number for the coxwain before the Regatta meeting.
  10. Weighting of coxwains wearing their racing dress will be between 9:00 and 10:00, and after the Regatta meeting until 11:00 for the Group 1, or 1 hour before the start of the following groups.
  11. All costs for participation in this event will be entirely by the participants and/or their clubs. The organizer will provide one meal for all participants.
  12. All participants must be able to swim, insured against any accidents which may occur at this event, and be medically fit, which will be confirmed on the verified registration form signed by the responsible club representative. The organizer does not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or injury which may occur during the regatta or is associated with the regatta.
  13. The participants and/or their clubs are responsible for providing all necessary equipment to their members that is required for participation in the regatta.  
Notice: Experienced coxwains are highly recommended.

 

Races (on River Sava)

  1. The start of the first race is planned at 12:00 pm (noon).
  2. Each heat is limited to 15 crews.
  3. The exact time schedule for each race is subject to modifications, depending on the number of participating crews, to allow for smooth launching and exchanging of boats for different crews.
  4. The launching of boats is done on the pontoon at HAVK Mladost. The crews are required to follow the launching order by their corresponding starting numbers.
  5. Warm-up is from the launching point downstream to the marshal located 200m away from the brink (by the high chimney of the heating facility) – observe this limitation because passing further downstream is risky and dangerous. After turning the boat upstream, further warm-up is permitted up to the buoy between the two bridges.
  6. All crews gather in the starting zone (as shown on the attached map) 5 minutes before the starting time, with the bow pointing upstream and according to the starting numbers.
  7. Start is on the fly, every 20 seconds. Crossing the start line is indicated by the sound signal.
  8. When being overtaken, slower crews are obliged to move to the centre of the river to allow the faster crew to pass them. Failing to do so is subject to a 10-second penalty. Two such infringements are allowed, however, a third infringement involves disqualification from the race. 
  9. Crossing the finishing line is indicated by the sound signal.
  10. After crossing the finishing line, the crews approach the float according to the directions shown on the attached picture and promptly carry out or exchange the boat with a different crew.

Rasing rules on Lake Jarun in case of bad condition on River Sava

  1. The start of the first race is planned at 12:00 pm (noon).
  2. Each heat is limited to 15 crews.
  3. The exact time schedule for each race is subject to modifications, depending on the number of participating crews, to allow for smooth launching and exchanging of boats for different crews.
  4. The launching and exiting of the boats is done according to the Regatta rules posted in front of the launching pontoons. 
  5. All crews are required to follow the launching order by their corresponding starting numbers.
  6. Warm-up is in the large swimming like according to the Regatta rules posted in front of the launching pontoons.
  7. All crews gather in the starting zone (as shown on the attached map) 5 minutes before the starting time, with the bow pointing towards the racing course and according to the starting numbers.
  8. Start is on the fly, every 20 seconds. Crossing the start line is indicated by the sound signal.
  9. Racing is close to the line located  dividing the lake into two halfs.
  10. When being overtaken, slower crews are obliged to move towards the shore to allow the faster crew to pass them. 
  11. Overtaking is forbidden 100 meters from the turning point  (red boyes) .
  12. Failing to do so is subject to a 10-second penalty. Two such infringements are allowed, however, a third infringement involves disqualification from the race. 
  13. Crossing the line of race mid-pointis indicated by the sound signal.
  14. The crew makes a 180° left turn and after the pause of not more than one minute continues the race in the oposite direction.
  15. Crossing the starting line of the second half of the race is indicated by the sound signal.
  16. Time spent at the turning (max. one mnute) is deducted from the total time measured from start to finsh.
  17. Crossing the finishing line is indicated by the sound signal.
  18. After crossing the finishing line, the crews approach the float according to the Regatta rules mentioned above.
